Tutoring rate converter

Your hourly rate as the price of a session of any length, and as a monthly plan that spreads the year evenly.

Length of a session

The weeks you actually teach, holidays out. The plan spreads them over 12 equal payments.

With the example numbers. Change any of them to see yours.

Pure arithmetic on what you typed. The monthly plan is the year’s sessions divided into 12 equal payments: the same price per session, paid evenly, not a discount.

Questions owners ask before they try it

Is the monthly plan a discount?

No. It is the year’s sessions at your rate, divided into 12 equal payments, so a family pays the same in a five-week month as in a holiday month. If you want a discount, the package calculator shows what it costs you.

    Which weeks should I count?

The weeks you actually teach: school-year weeks minus the holidays you close for. Counting 52 when you teach 40 would undercharge every month.

Where does my hourly rate come from?

From your costs and the margin you want. The tutoring rate calculator on this site works it out from tutor pay, unbilled hours and fixed costs.
