Tutor pay calculator

By the hour, a flat amount per session, or a share of the price: what each costs you and pays the tutor, at your own numbers.

What the family pays, before tax.

Prep, notes, travel you pay by the hour. 0 if none.

Employer contributions, or 0 for contractors.

Your own scenario. A share moves with the price; the other two don’t.

With the example numbers. Change any of them to see yours.

Every figure comes from what you typed; there is no recommended rate on this page. Payroll costs apply the same way to all three models; leave them at 0 for contractors.

Pay that builds itself from the sessions taught

In Pillar OS tutor pay builds itself from the sessions actually taught: the hours, each tutor’s rate or the job’s own rate, bonuses, one line per tutor, and a file for your accountant.

Questions owners ask before they try it

    Which model is fairest?

This page does not say. It shows what each costs you and pays the tutor at your numbers. A share follows your price, hourly pay follows the time you pay for, and a flat rate follows neither.

    Employee or contractor?

That depends on the working relationship, not on how pay is counted, and the CRA and Revenu Québec each publish the factors they look at. Set payroll costs to 0 here for a contractor.

Why count the minutes around a session?

Because hourly pay usually covers them: prep, notes, travel. They make an hourly session cost more than its length suggests, which the other two models do not show.
